POSITION SUMMARY:
To help students acquire information and skills that will contribute to their development into mature, able, and responsible individuals.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Holds bachelor’s degree and required Kentucky Department of Education certification for assigned position.

  (Subject to rank classification established by EPSB under KRS 161.1211 and verification of

     professional experience as outlined in Paducah Public Schools Board Policy 03.121)



2. Proven ability to work effectively with students.

3. Proven ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and faculty.

REPORTS TO: Principal

SUPERVISES: Students and Instructional/General Aides as assigned.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Instruct assigned classes and students in the locations and at the times designated by the Principal or Superintendent.

Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the district.

Prepare for classes; prepare daily written lesson plans. Provide written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.

Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.

Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.

Strive to implement, by instruction and action, the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives, and the Kentucky Core Content for Assessment.

Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

Evaluate student progress on a regular basis. Provides implementation of IEP and course curriculum outlines when and where appropriate. Provides progress reports including reports to parents as required.

Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.

Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board Policy.

Assist administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student conduct for classroom and school related activities as set forth by the Paducah Public Schools Code of Conduct.

Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aides and volunteers. Work cooperatively with department heads and/or principal to evaluate job performance.

Make provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.

Attend and participate in faculty meetings, committee meetings, staff development and in-service programs.

Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.

Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.

Accept a share of responsibility for co-curricular activities as needed or assigned.

Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.

Establish and maintain cooperative relations with others.

Provide for his/her own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conference, and/or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning.

Attend staff meetings and serves on staff committees as prescribed in the Paducah Public Schools Board of Education policies, Kentucky Revised statutes and School Council policies.

Perform additional duties/tasks and assume additional responsibilities as needed or assigned and as prescribed in Board policies.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
187-day employee with salary determined by the adopted teacher’s salary schedule of the Paducah Public Schools Board of Education.

 

NOTICE:

Alternative certification pathway for teachers may start at Rank IV until all requirements are met.

May start at this pay: $38,890 per year.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
