This position requires having served as a police officer and or graduated from a police academy comparable to the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice's academy hours at the time of graduation.
BASIC FUNCTION:
Participate in monitoring student activities; maintain order and acceptable conduct among students; provide protection for students and faculty by patrolling school grounds.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Participate in monitoring student activities; maintain order and acceptable conduct among students.
Prevent trespassers from entering or remaining in school buildings without proper authorization according to established guidelines and procedures.
Monitor student activities in hallways, cafeterias and escort persons exhibiting undesirable behavior to school office or out of the building as necessary.
Assist school administration in developing and implementing policies and procedures for student discipline.
Consult with office administration and recommend security plans as assigned.
Report incidents to appropriate personnel; prepare reports of incidents which occur on school grounds.
Monitor loading and unloading of school buses.
Perform related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
KNOWLEDGE OF: Laws, rules and regulations related to assigned activities. Health and safety regulations.
ABILITY TO: Participate in monitoring student activities. Maintain order and acceptable conduct among students. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. Prepare routine reports. Learn related District policies and objectives.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to: high school diploma, G.E.D Certificate.
Up to nine (9) years of related work experience can be counted toweards years of service.
Work experience is veriified with previous employer(s).
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
If not already POPS certified, must meet Peace Officers Professional Standards within the first year of employment as outlined by the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council.
POPS employees will receive an annual $9,000 supplement.
Annual KLEFPF incentive of $3,583.33.
